WELCOME

This site is where we run online research for academic purposes. Most of the surveys, tests and experiments that are run here come from researchers in University College London's Psychology Department. The majority of the research at the moment is by invitation - we invite people to participate either through reward schemes like ipoints.co.uk, or through personal invitations through facebook or other channels. We hope to open this out in months to come, to allow people who are interested to partcipate directly. Updates will appear here if and when that happens.

RESEARCH PROJECTS

We work on many different research projects. Some of them to deal with very applied questions, which could be anything from how people of different personalities confront certain types of legal problem, or how much tax people think people on different incomes should pay. Other research projects are more concerned with the processes underlying how people make judgements and decisions more generally, and how best to improve people's decision making. Finally, some projects look at basic level cognition, like attention or, switching between tasks, to see how they vary both with age and under different experimental conditions.

RESEARCH APPROACH

Like many researchers who are interested in the science of human psychology, we run many of our experiments online. We code them up in Flash, and then circulate them. This approach allows us to reach a wide demographic - rather than the university students who are often used by researchers as guinea pigs - and to test larger numbers of people on a limited budget.

CONTACT

If you have completed a survey here by invitation and would like to give feedback on it, or you would like to make contact for any other reason, please email Dr Stian Reimers, s.reimers@ucl.ac.uk.
